Waste water is not water. It is a biologically contaminated liquid, and treatment here is not optional.
Clean-water flooding creates a moisture and mould risk. An escape of waste water creates the same risk plus biological contamination: waste water carries intestinal bacteria and other pathogens.
The practical difference shows up in two ways. First, treatment is mandatory rather than advisable — even if the surface looks clean once dry. Second, the line between "salvageable" and "discard" is far stricter: material you might try to dry out after ordinary flooding is thrown away here.
Visible cleanliness means nothing here — the contamination stays where the liquid soaked in, not where it was visible.
To be clear and not waste your time: we do not clear sewer pipes, clear blockages or carry out plumbing repairs. That is a job for a plumber or an emergency drainage service.
Our work starts once the source has been dealt with: disinfecting the premises, assessing affected materials and removing the smell. If you call us while the pipe is still leaking, we will say so straight away — there is no point treating a room that waste water keeps flowing into.
If the incident happened in an apartment building and the cause lies in a shared riser, dealing with the source is the building manager's responsibility. It is worth recording that immediately, because the cause determines who covers the consequences.

The critical step in this chain is the third one — assessing the materials. If contaminated porous material is left anywhere under the covering, all the rest of the work holds for a few weeks. That is why our inspection looks not only at the visible area, but also under skirting boards, into covering joints and into adjoining rooms the liquid may have run into.

This list is stricter than after ordinary flooding. The reason is simple: biological contamination that has soaked into porous material cannot be treated reliably — the product does not reach the full depth of the material.
The line runs by how the material is built, not by what it cost. An expensive carpet with backing is exactly as untreatable as a cheap one. And the other way round — a tiled floor with sealed joints is usually entirely salvageable, even if it looked the worst of everything. That is why we make these decisions after an inspection rather than from a photograph.
A plasterboard partition is the typical case: the paper facing absorbs liquid like a sponge and capillary action carries it higher than the visible line. So we cut out the lower section with a margin above the wet line rather than exactly along it. It looks like unnecessary work, but a contaminated strip left in place means the smell stays in the wall after the rebuild.
Textiles are the one category where there is a choice. Bedding, towels and clothing that came into contact can be salvaged by washing at the highest temperature the fabric allows, separately from the rest of the laundry. Upholstered furniture, mattresses and carpets with backing cannot be saved that way — washing only reaches the fabric, not the filling the liquid soaked into.
