Disinfection in Sigulda

The valley terrain changes two things — how you reach a property, and how damp gets into the basement and the ground floor.

What we work on in Sigulda

We travel to Sigulda on request and carry out sanitary treatment of premises: mould removal, odour removal, ozone treatment and disinfection after an event — flooding, a sewage incident, a long spell standing empty or illness in the household. The properties vary: detached houses, flats in apartment buildings, guest houses, and back-of-house rooms in catering and sports venues.

We have no premises in Sigulda, and we do not promise an urgent call-out with a specific arrival moment. We agree a date and a time, travel out and do the work in one visit if the scope allows. That means it is worth saying as much as possible in the first conversation — floor area, number of rooms, which floor, whether there is a basement and whether the property can be left empty.

We travel out to Sigulda. The only thing you need to take from that: the work is scheduled for a specific day, not summoned in a hurry.

What the valley terrain changes

The Gauja valley in Sigulda is not a scenic detail but a practical building circumstance. Many houses are built on a slope or at its edge, and that raises two questions you never have to ask on a flat suburban block.

1A basement cut into a slopeOn one side the wall is below ground up to the ceiling; on the other it is above ground. Damp comes from the higher side, and mould appears on that particular wall rather than evenly around the basement. Worth checking in your specific house.
2Water running towards the houseOn a slope, rain and meltwater travel down the fall. If the ground around the foundations, the drainage or the gutters are arranged wrongly, water reaches the foundations year after year. Treatment does not change that — surface water drainage does.
3Access for equipmentA steep drive, narrow streets, stone steps and ice in winter all affect how close equipment can be brought. Say so when you enquire — it changes the planning, not the price.

The second local circumstance is the protected nature areas and the fact that some properties sit in or at the edge of woodland. In practice that means shade, damper air around the building and slower drying of external walls after rain. A north-facing façade in such a spot dries noticeably more slowly, and mould inside most often appears against that very wall. This is not a problem of the whole town — it is a question to check on site in the specific house.

If your property has a basement, start there: mould in the basement describes how to tell a groundwater case from a condensation case. On the mechanism generally — mould removal.

Guest houses and tourism properties

Sigulda has many properties that work seasonally or in waves: guest houses, holiday homes, back-of-house rooms in catering and sports venues. There the main constraint is not the method but the time window. After fogging or ozone treatment a room has to be left empty for a set period and then aired, so the work is best planned between busy spells rather than in a week when every bed is booked.

✓ A good time to treat

  • Between seasons, when the property stands empty.
  • Before opening for the season, when the rooms have been unused for a long time.
  • After renovation, before the first guests.
  • Straight after a leak, while the material has not yet dried out with the growth inside it.

✗ A bad time

  • The day before a full house — no time to air.
  • When open food or sensitive equipment stays in the room.
  • When the source of the damp has not been dealt with.
  • When the patch has just been painted over — the paint has to come off before we work.

For properties that stand empty and unheated over winter, the description of long-vacant premises is useful. Where a smell has its source in textiles and soft furniture, ozone treatment helps.

How the call-out works

Enquiry

Tell us the property type, the area, the floor and whether there is a basement or plinth level.

Agreeing a date

We agree a day and a time; for seasonal properties we plan between busy spells.

Inspection on site

We look at moisture, ventilation, the slope side and where the water or smell comes from.

Treatment

We do the work in one visit if the scope allows.

Handover

We say how long the space has to be left empty and when it can be used normally.

If the inspection shows treatment is not needed — say, the smell comes from a dried-out trap or a lack of draught rather than from fungal growth — we tell you and do not sell the work. Equally, we say so if the cause is in the structure: waterproofing, drainage, roofing and installing ventilation are not things we do, they are a builder's work.

What changes the price in Sigulda

The price list is the same for everyone, but the final sum for the same number of square metres can differ. In Sigulda four things usually account for it, and none of them is a secret — worth knowing before you enquire.

CircumstanceWhat it changes
Area and number of roomsThe base price. For mould we charge by the area treated, from €1.50/m², minimum from €80.
Whether finishes must come offIf the growth is under a panel, cladding or a skirting board, the area to be treated is larger than the visible patch.
Whether drying is neededThere is no sense treating a wet structure — it has to dry first. That may mean a second visit.
The approach and the floorA steep drive, narrow streets or carrying equipment up stairs change the time we spend on site.

Distance is the fifth factor, and the only one that does not depend on the property. Within Riga travel is included in the price; outside Riga there is a surcharge depending on distance, and we give the specific figure once we have the address, before we set off. An address at the edge of the valley and an address by the A2 stop are not the same journey, even if both are "in Sigulda".

What to do before we arrive so the work does not take longer than it needs to: clear access to the walls with patches, take boxes and belongings away from the basement walls, arrange access to the boiler room and tell us where a vehicle can be parked. If there are animals or house plants in the house, they have to be moved out for the treatment — worth arranging in advance rather than discovering on the day.

Sigulda and the surrounding area

This page is about the town of Sigulda, but we also travel to the rest of the surrounding municipality — the distance is simply different then, and it is worth mentioning at the outset rather than afterwards. Along the way and nearby we also work here: Vangazi, Saulkrasti and Kegums.

If you have several properties in one neighbourhood or along one route, say so when you enquire — treating two properties in one call-out is simpler and works out better for you than two separate journeys.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Sigulda?

No. We travel to Sigulda on request and agree a specific day. We have no premises, depot or permanent staff in the town, and we do not pretend otherwise.

The house is on a slope and the only approach is a steep track — is that a problem?

Not a problem, but it needs saying when you enquire. The approach determines how close equipment can be brought and how much is carried by hand, and in winter ice makes that more pronounced. It usually does not affect the price; it does affect the planning.

Do you also travel to the rest of the Sigulda area?

Yes. We cover both the town and the surrounding municipality, only the distance differs. Within Riga travel is included in the price; outside Riga there is a surcharge by distance, and we state it before setting off.

Not sure which treatment you need?

Describe the situation — we will tell you whether treatment is needed at all, and which one.
